It is very frustrating when you purchase a flash drive of 32GB. You try to copy a large file to the storage devices but receive an error message “File Too Large For The Destination File System“. The funniest part is when you copy the individual files up to 4GB, the flash accepts it. But when it is just a single data of 4 gb file size, it doesn’t. File too large for USB is not a flash issue. A simple switch to exFAT or NTFS will solve your problem.
What are FAT32 and exFAT, NTFS?
USB Drives and memory card has the default settings of FAT32. Because this format supports almost all devices, Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android.
Meanwhile, the FAT32 format has one major drawback. You cant copy file larger than 4GB unless you format it to exFAT or NTFS.
Microsoft developed NTFS and was launched in 1993. This format currently supports Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. In fact, this system does not support non-Windows OS.
Is my File too large for USB?
This error message did not appear because your file is too large or memory card has an issue. It appears because the flash is in a FAT32 partition. The maximum file size a FAT32 flash drive can accept is below 4 gb file size. When people experience this, we all think that the file is too large for the storage devices.

How To Copy Large Files To Fat32
All you need to do is change the Flash to exFAT/NTFS format. Doing this will allow you to copy files larger than 4GB.
Note: Using this method below will erase all files on the flash drive, back up your files before continuing. Some software like EaseUS Partition Master & Minitool Partition Wizard allows you to change the file system without losing your data. This will be covered below also.
Get rid of file too large for USB
Step 1. Plugin the Flash drive to your computer.
Step 2. Open My Computer/Computer (Start+E). Backup your files to prevent data loss.
Step 3. Locate your USB flash drive, right-click, and Click Format.
Step 4. From the drop-down menu, you will see the NTFS file system, Fat32 file system, exFAT file system. Click the exFAT. Since quick format has been checked, Click Format.
The flash will then format, now you are free to copy the files to your flash drive, but not more than the size of the flash drive.
Note: If you convert to NTFS, the flash might not on some DVD PLAYER.
