8 Amazing Methods to Fix Apps Not Working on Samsung TV

Samsung products are known for their quality, but sometimes, even the best can have a few malfunctions. Recently, one of our users, who has a Samsung TV report apps not working on Samsung TV.

He was able to use the app for a few minutes before it shuts down. This is not just a problem with this one app, but with the whole gadget. This is also frustrating for some Samsung customers, but fortunately, there is an easy solution to fix this.

8 Simple Methods to Fix Apps Not Working on Samsung TV

1. Check for software updates

Your device will receive bug and security fixes as a result of software updates. To avoid errors, keep your TV’s software up to date.

  • Push the home button and then navigate to Settings.
  • Navigate to Support and then Software Update.
  • To begin updating your TV, click Update Now.

2. Cold boot your Samsung Smart TV

Cold booting your TV is a little different than simply turning it off and back on. When you turn it off, it is really on standby. A cold boot turns off the TV and reboots it, much like rebooting a laptop. This can fix apps not working on Samsung TV, glitches in the menu, picture issues, etc.

There are two ways to cold boot your TV.

With the Remote: The most common method for most people is to hold down the power button on their remote until the TV goes off and on again. This should take no more than 5 seconds.

With the Plug: If you do not have the remote, unplug your TV from the wall outlet or surge protector, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

Note: If you turn off a surge protector while other devices (such as your router) are connected into it, allow them time to power up and reconnect before checking any functionality on your TV.

3. Reset Smart Hub on the TV Click to Expand

Smart Hub is the location where all apps live. It is also known as the Samsung Apps store.

If Samsung Smart TV apps are not available or are not shown in Smart Hub, change the current country code to a different one.

Follow these steps:

  • Press Smart Hub on your remote control to load it.
  • Once Smart Hub loads, press 2, 8, 9. The numbers may vary depending on your device series.
  • Select any country under the Internet Service location.
  • Agree to the terms and continue.
  • Allow the Smart Hub App to update based on the respective country you have selected. The option will allow new apps to fill the Smart Menus.
  • After Smart Hub updates, change back to your country code.

Smart Hub will update for a second time. Once it does, it launches the apps that were not showing.

4. Reinstall the app on the TV Click to Expand

This process removes old and useless data that causes problems and replaces it with fresh data.

  • Press the Home button and navigate to Apps.
  • Navigate to the app, and then select Delete.

Note: If Delete is grayed out, this is a recommended app. Select Reinstall instead.

  • Press the return button on your remote and select the Search icon.
  • Enter the name of the app and install it.

Note: Make sure that you have your login information before deleting or reinstalling an app. These steps will sign you out, and so you will need to sign back in.

5. Change DNS Server

  • Hit the menu button on your remote.
  • Under network ->Network status->IP settings
  • Change DNS Server to either: 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.8.4
  • In your router reverse your IP address for the TV i.e 192.168.1.14
  • Enable your DMZ in your in your router settings for the TV, IP address you have reserved.

6. Clear Cache Data

Clearing cache typically removes temporary files to help free up needed space and you can clear by device settings menu or you can go to the manage installed applications and clear cache and clear data for each and every application or for the app which is not loading. By clearing the cache and clearing data, apps not working on Samsung TV should be resolved.

7. Check Internet Connectivity

Lack of proper internet connectivity is another reason most streaming apps fail to install or load. If you notice apps like Amazon, YouTube, and Netflix are not working efficiently, consider checking your internet connection.

Remember, if your Samsung TV streams videos in 4K Ultra, an average-speed connection will not serve you. Some of the ways to fix this are using LAN connections or cables. From experience, wireless connections are more prone to errors than quality cables.

If you are using wireless connections, ensure physical objects are not obstructing signals. Moreover, be sure nearby electronic devices are not interfering with signals.

If none of these seems to work, upgrade your internet plan.

8. Reset all the TV Apps

If apps not working on Samsung TV is still not fixed, you should remove all of them. Once the Smart Hub is empty, you can download and reinstall the latest versions.

While this is always highly efficient, you should use it as a matter of last resort.
