Premiere Pro: Starting A Project “Chapter 1”

As I have said earlier in one of my article Video Editing: Basic Introduction and Tutorial. That I will be teaching you how to edit your video with premiere pro, After effects, Proshow Gold, also lots of editing application. So are you ready to begin editing video with Adobe Premiere Pro? Follow these steps to start a new project.

Launch Premiere Pro.

Click New Project in the Start screen.

From the pop-up screen, you can name your project and decide the location to save the project. Because you might need to re-edit the project in the future.

Click OK.

This is what premiere pro interface looks like. Furthermore, to import your video, click File, from the pop-up menu click import.

Now locate the video you want to import, you can import as Folder, and you can also select your videos before you import. Click open or import folder depending on how you want to import your files.

Please wait while the import progress is being displayed.

Press Control + N on the keyboard to create a new sequence. Change the sequence name to any name that you see fit. And click OK.

Click OK.

Drag and drop your clips(video) to the newly created sequence on your timeline. As you can see, the screenshot above has no clips, but the one below shows where exactly you should drop your clips.

Click Change sequence settings if prompted.

Now you have successfully IMPORT your video clips. Furthermore, the more you practice and explore, the more you improve. Either you are a pro or just new to premiere. Am very sure as we proceed with the tutorial, you will surely gain one or two things. Our next lecture will be on understanding the tools in premiere pro.
